After a year of the promulgation of the Ordinance 1568, the process of monitoring deaths from external causes (accidents, homicides and suicides), through data provided by the Institute of Legal Medicine, establishes the “Observatory on Fatal Injury Caused by External Factors”
The Fatal Injury Observatory belongs to the Deputy of Health of the Social Development Division and it consist of a technical committee made up of representatives and institutions such as the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), National Police of Peru (PNP), Department of Epidemiology of INSA (DGE) Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA) and the Municipal Education Managers, and Sports; Supervision and Control management, and Transportation management.
The Observatory meets monthly in order to verify changes in the frequency of homicides, traffic fatalities and suicides during the months of validity of the Ordinance for the purpose of understanding, addressing and design, together, recommendations that are based on reliable evidence that supports them.
